I started my golf journey through Ange's golf clinics at BGC in October 2019.  Prior to that I had not picked up a club and had no previous interest in playing golf although my father had played when I was growing up. In our household golf was considered just a man's sport.

In 2019 my son suggested I try golf as I no longer could play tennis due to injury.  He did not realise what he was unleashing.  Once I started I was hooked.

I completed the first clinic in October 2019 and then proceeded to book into the next one the following February in 2020.  Unfortunately due to COVID we did not get a chance to complete all the sessions due to the shutdown.  So, a friend (who I had met through golf) and I started  going out and having a hit at the country courses.  She had the patience of a saint and helped me get my first handicap.  Initially when I first started playing, I was pretty impressed if I got under 180 shots around the course. I was always terrified that I was holding other people up or they would think I was useless.  Gradually I learnt to realise that other people don't care what score you hit, they are more worried about their own game.  "Really, we are just hitting a little white ball with a stick around a paddock"

At the end of 2020, I progressed to playing my first 18 hole competition in Ballarat, and was very nervous.  After getting this under my belt, I continued to play weekly competitions, country clubs and also entering into local tournaments.

Looking back, golf has been one of the best things I have ever been involved in, from the friendships that I have made, exercise out in the fresh air (rain, hail or shine), the camaraderie in the club house on completion of our games each week and of course getting to escape the housework to do something I love.
